MEET OUR ANALYSTS Cedric Chehab Managing Director, Global Head Of Country Risk Cedric Chehab is Managing Director and Global Head of Country Risk at BMI, where he helps ensure the coherence of global macro and country risk strategy. Currently based in Toronto, Cedric previously served as Head of Asia Research, where he was responsible for all Asia-based country risk analysis and industry research. Before that he was Head of Americas Research, based in New York. From 2008 to 2010, Cedric worked in London as Head of Commodities Research and Strategy. He has also worked in management consulting at Accenture. Cedric holds an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics and a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Essex. Michelle Karavias Managing Director, Industry Research Michelle heads BMI’s industry research which spans more than 20 sectors. Michelle joined BMI in 2008, specialising in energy and infrastructure. In 2011 she relocated to New York to establish BMI’s Americas research team. Now based in London, Michelle drives BMI’s ‘connected thinking’ approach to analysing the impact of cross-sector themes such as energy transition and digital transformation. Michelle holds a bachelor’s 1st Class Honours degree in American Studies from the University of Nottingham, with International Study at the University of Toronto in Canada. Mark Rosenberg, PhD Co-Head GeoQuant Mark is co-founder of GeoQuant, an AI-driven company that measures and predicts geopolitical and country risks, acquired by BMI in 2022. Mark is a UC Berkeley-educated political economist specializing in geopolitical risk analysis and a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Fellow. After completing his PhD, he was hired as Africa Analyst at Eurasia Group (EG) and soon became Director of Africa, Comparative Analytics and Research Management. Before forming GeoQuant, Mark led product development at EG and helped manage its global research platform of 60+ analysts. Previously, Mark helped build Freedom House’s well-known democracy index and edited the organization’s flagship Freedom in the World publication. Chiedza Madzima Head of Operational Risk Research Chiedza leads Operational Risk and South Africa Research team at BMI. Her areas of specialisation are in economics, business environment risk analysis, policy risk and macro data analysis particularly for Emerging Markets. Chiedza holds two degrees from the University of Pretoria in South Africa: BSc Actuarial Mathematics and Financial Engineering; BCom Business Management and Economics. She has featured in various regional and global news publications, including Bloomberg, Quartz Africa, News24 and Africa Business Magazine.
